Subject:AXStv concerts
There have recently been several IMO very good classic Rock concerts on AXStv (formerly HDnet) on DirectTV. I have found the Stevie Windwood, Heart and Fleetwood Mac Live in Boston concerts particularly enjoyable..although I'm sure some of you here will find something to criticize about them. The nice thing is that with DVR's you don't have to go out and buy the DVD's (yes, I know you still have to pay for satelite TV). Stevie Windwood's voice is still great and watching him play the B3 using footpedals was a treat. The camera work provides great views of the B3's keyboards, pedals and 122 while he played- something you don't often see in filmed concerts. Stevie Nick's voice is still in fine form and she looks great too! Same with Heart whose singing was still awesome. Not sure if Heart's backing band is their own or just hired hands, but their keyboard player was using some type of Kurzweil PC3. I did watch the ELP concert more carefully again and, yes, Emo's fingers don't seem quite as fast and accurate on some tunes as they used to be but they're still faster than mine! The tone on his Goff Hammond chop sounded really nice.
