Subject:OT- Nice BV/122 for sale in Toronto
For any of you clonewheelers who are interested in transitioning into a real hammond, I have a nice BV and 122 leslie combination for sale here in Toronto. This is a one owner, living room condition organ/leslie combination that has never been moved (except once to bring it to my house).
The leslie is an early 122 model, very well built and it's in virtually mint condition, except for a couple of barely visible hairline cracks in the top (which I'm sure could easily be buffed out with some restore-a-finish). I had it looked over by a top Hammond tech located in Buffalo (some of you will know who I am talking about), who replaced one tube and declared it to be a "primo" leslie. I believe this is his highest rating ;-)
The BV itself is in very nice condition as well, although it has a little noise/hum at high volume, but the same tech told me that a set of tubes would probably cure this. The BV cabinet is really nice too and while there a few minor scratches here and there (like the inevitable bumps and bruises on the legs from years of being banged into by a vacuum), there are really no marks that could not be buffed out or made to dissappear with a little touch up here and there and some restore-a-finish. With a small amount of effort the BV could be back to immaculate living room condition in no time. Even the pedals, which are often a great indicator of the condition of a console hammond, show very little wear!
I bought this organ about 4 years ago, with the intention to transplant my chopped A100 into it, and keep in my living room, but I just haven't gotten around to doing so, and for the last 4 years I've had both the BV my A100 chop along with 3 leslies sitting in the middle of my living room (and my wife has never complained once.. yes she is a keeper).
So all that said, I'm only asking basically what it cost me.. $2200 (which is/was a great deal)! Those of you who buy and sell organs know that there are dealers who are asking $2200 just for a nice quality 122 leslie.. So you could think of this as buying a mint leslie and getting a nice BV for free.
Now all that said, I'm really not interested in shipping this.. this is a local pick up or delivery deal.. I can deliver it anywhere within a couple hours of Toronto, for gas money. I have not advertised this on craigslist, ebay or kijijii yet, I thought I would offer it to my friends on various lists that I participate in first. So if anyone is interested contact me off line.
