I'll agree with that, though he does have a good point -- bass compression seems to be more of the norm, but definitely at the price of attack and tone. I don't use it when I'm playing bass guitar, but when I'm playing left hand bass I prefer a bass tone that is somewhat piano-like in sustain and release, but with infinite sustain at the tail-end of it. This allows me to play harder to get more emphasis and a harder attack, but maintain a consistent pressure level during the quiet parts. Even with all that, I'm still riding the volume control during the quieter parts, which is often an impractical thing to do when I have right hand parts too.

Question: Does anyone make velocity sensitive bass pedals?
