I use a splittable keyboard (Nord Stage or Kawai MP6) and an alesis micro bass module. Dated, but many sounds to choose from and it can easily sit on the left side of the keyboard where I can easily change sounds on the fly-

If you're doing bass parts to cover material by a group that uses a regular bass player - oops, contradiction in terms there;) - a regular keyboard w/ bass sounds built in will be necessary. I did many years, many years ago, w/ the loved/hated Fender Rhodes Piano Bass & welcomed the advent of synths since you could get a punchier sound w/ better attack. So if you have another keyboard around, or bass sounds loaded into a computer based system you would be using, try that out & things will get much better. Welcome to the smarmy world of "We don't need no stinkin' bass players" keyboardists ;)!!
