Joey Francesco puts bass players out of a job. Even fabulously good ones. You'll watch this for a long time before you decide that he's the one playing bass.

When he gets into the meat of his solo, you realize that half of the time he's just vamping the right hand part and completely going berzerk with his left hand and feet.

Aside from that I consider myself a "bass" player as meaning anything with bass sounds and probably carrying a rhythm. I get to play a show tonight where I'm playing Waldorf, Mopho, and Fender bass. While I think it's tremendously hard playing good organ parts while focused on a tight bass line, I've always been encouraged by the artists that do it. A good Hammond bass tone resonates and grooves just as good as any other bass, and I like to hear the other phrasings you can get out of sustained notes and pitch bending. -pc
