Hi Craig,
I agree about the possible reason for it, but that should be more of an explanation rather than an excuse. I mentioned what I did only to help things get better. You mention his great tech support below, and I have also read a lot of good things about him and his efforts. To make them even better, I would simply suggest not including such idoms (particularly vulgar ones) in replies to customers.
