Subject:RE: [CWSG]now: Clonewheel as Vent Rival?

I bought a new PC361for about $1K (from Novamusik) in April and I think the KB3 mode sounds pretty damn good. The only thing I haven’t done yet is isolate the organ to the Aux outs and run them into my Vent. The sliders work in the same manner as they do for the Korg Kronos to control the drawbars. There’s a bunch of free sounds on the internet for it as well. I thought about getting an Electro 3 but for the money I don’t think you can go wrong with the PC361…It’s loaded with Strings, CP-70, Wurlies, Rhodes, KB3 mode, some of the best Arp string sounds(ala Pink Floyd) I’ve ever heard from a hardware synth, classic synths, etc, etc. The only weakness I’ve found is the guitar sounds. They’re not horrible just a little lackluster. The horns are a little weak as well although I haven’t tried to modify them yet. I bought it to use as a synth that can provide decent organ sound with drawbars…I look at it as a poor man’s Kronos(YMMV)…

There’s a pretty good demo on youtube of the updated organ sounds you might want to check out…Besides that any of the PC series make excellent MIDI controllers they have more features than I’ll ever use…

Cheers,

I think I have narrowed my choices to the Roland VK -8, possibly 7 and more likely the Kurz PC3 as I particularly need some strings. I read the PC3's organs other instruments and internal sim is very good ( if it has the latest upgrade). Hard to find these used. I presume the new ones come with this installed already?

Some would argue with you about this... I agree...
