I wasn't being critical about real Leslies; after all it's the Leslie sound that sims strive to emulate. The sound of a 122 or 147 is unsurpassed IMHO. However, a Leslie's bulky cabinet and heavy weight are not high on my list of endearing features. The 2101 MK II was not a million miles away from the sound of my old 145 ( way better than the original 2101 ) and had it had the bass rotor sim of the Vent, it would have been totally stunning, not only because of its size and power, but it would have totally nailed the sound as far as I am concerned. As it was though I couldn't justify the outlay when the VB3 sim ( and/or Vent ) is so good. I am in awe of the geniuses who have created the latest sims, making life a lot simpler, and providing us with real musical pleasure, so that we haven't got to compromise to a point where the sound ( and in particular, the tremelo ) just isn't satisfying.
Is the Leslie a dinosaur, no, but at long last, a latest edition rotary sim will put a smile on my face.
Thomas.
