Thanks for all your input. I indeed have my output set to full blast in Preferences. The cable, albeit an inexpensive one, seems to be working fine, as it works fine when I connect my iPod to it and then run it into my sound system board. I haven't tried it in a live rehearsal or gigging situation yet, so I won't know for about 10 days for that.
