Dare I step out onto this slippery slope? Ahh what the hell LOL..
This has always been a difficult topic sometimes getting very heated, sometimes not. I suppose the question hear, or should I say the difference of opinion is "when does performing a physical act make someone a musician"? I don't have that answer, no one does. Its subjective. I suppose every person that rings my doorbell could be a musician. They each play the two same simple yet beautiful notes with equal talent. But I think we can all agree that hitting the "play button" on a home stereo does not make one a musician, playing back sampled loops by any physical medium? Not sure of that either.
Don't look my way for the answers....
Tim
btw: the sound of my motorcycle is indeed music to my ears... just sayin'

Though I agree with much of the sentiment stated here, I also will state-and this is coming from someone who has played and instrument for 40+ years-I will say that music can be made with a log and a stick--it's what you do with the log and stick that matters-or your voice or blowing into a bottle, or waving your ha
nd over a Theramin or pushing buttons--whatever---

Then I must be also old, as I see it the same way :-) Lot of recycling
in the music, and patterns, loops, automatic accompaniment,
arpeggiators, samples, Karma function... Prefabricated lego.
We have such sophisticated technology and it's used for producing of
such redundant garbage.
