I'm in a south London-based 9-piece ska, funk and reggae band (yes -
NINE-piece) and we gig two or three times a month. Recent gigs have included
Oxford, Cambridge and Folkestone, plus London venues from Croydon to Camden
(including Oxford Street's famous 100 Club). And we are only one of dozens
of bands on the UK ska and reggae circuit. Don't know what part of the UK
you live in, but I'll let you know next time we're gigging there...

> Well I guess that applies here too. If there is a BAND performing here
in the UK it's a miracle (and I feel privileged to perform with one of
the top big bands in the area). TV is atrocious (Love you, Simon
Cowell, not), and so are most bars (previous governments made it a
nightmare for venues to host live acts of more than 2 people). Most
entertaining bar gig recently was a single kid playing a Juno Di or
something with USB stick backing and a guitar. I used to play that
venue with a quartet...

Oh well :)
