This is utter nonsense. First: I play a lot, I use only a laptop, I never have to reboot. Multi-splits, big orchestrations deeply layered sounds. Never reboot. Second: my laptop is never lighting up my face. In fact, it's not in front of me, and I might only occasionally look at it to see what song is next. You would be able to see this in videos I've posted. The Clapton tribute vid was probably a half-dozen tunes, I don't recall seeing myself look at it at all, though I'm not sure I watched the entire show.

As someone said previously, the ones with the loudest gripes are the ones who haven't done it.

I've seen totally 'ridiculous'-looking keyboardists, as you put it. But it's usually the player - not the rig he's trying to play - that makes me laugh. The ones that crack me up the most are often parked behind immense rigs and can't carry their parts without a bucket. That will get me very time - but I'm easily amused.
