Subject:Re: New Nord C2 OS!
Just loaded the new OS and I really like it too.. but it has me rethinking all of my settings.. for instance I used to use the Vintage 2 setting (settings are clean, and vintage 1,2,3) but as I go through the different settings I am finding that I like the clean or vintage 1 better now, especially when I dirty it up a bit with some overdrive. If I select the vintage 2 or 3 and add overdrive it seems to get too buzzy now.. and I am not sure why this is or what may have changed... perhaps this is just my imagination, or my listening environment.
Overall, there is definately a more realistic sound to this OS now. Even the new setting for key bounce, gives a very realistic kind of double trigger that is very noticable on low notes with fast percussion (very realistic).. I did not understand what this bounce was until I heard that and realized that my real B3 did the same thing.
All in all, very nice upgrade.. Regarding the new close mic leslie.. I really like it and I will certainly use this as my default setting, and I doubt that I will bring my Ventilator to gigs anymore. It compares favourably to the Ventilator, but not quite as good (in my opinion).. the ventilator still wins out in two areas.. overall warmth and overdrive (vent is warmer and more authentic) and this is apparent when you listen to the lower rotor. But as Barry has said, I really do not think the Ventilator is necessary now.
The new settings that allow you to mix between treble horn and bass rotor is also great but once again, I am going to have to play with these parameters and my EQ to see just how good I can get this thing sounding.. There is definately more tweakability now which is a very good thing!
So this is a quick review and just my initial reaction after spending about 20 minutes with it. I will spend a little more time later today and if I have any more thoughts I will post them.
AGAIN, great work NORD!! A very nice update!
