Man, this is some funny stuff. As the original OP here, I gotta laugh at where this thread has ended up.

So to add to all of this, I originally started as a rock organist in my late teens....never played pedals, and didn't listen to jazz or classical. I played in bands all over, ending up being a keyboard/synth guy with no Hammond in sight. Got toally into Classical and Jazz along the way but never really got the straightahead jazz thing down.

Then I became a composer and didn't play out for 20 years, except for one small tour of Europe/Japan. Still no organ in sight.

2 years ago, my jazz guitar friend says let's start playing out and "you should get the organ happening again, hey, let's do an organ trio and you can play bass as well!" So, I've been shedding for 2 years and now we're playing out and it's pretty cool. No pedals, just left hand bass for the moment.

We are recording a couple of tunes and I thought...... maybe I can add the thump to my organ track using a keyboard controller instead of the pedals I have.

That's when I posted on here.....

So I'm actually a "rock" organist

I'm not a Classical "organist"

I don't really play pedals

I'm doing a jazz/soul gig

and I wanna put some thump in my bass part!
