Subject:Re: Triggering Nord C1 Bass Pedals

Organ here. Never played much anything else. Still haven't figured out
how the _piano_ pedale Are supposed to' work, actually!

But yes, clonewheel, of course. Rarely bitten the resl thing, never in
concert.

I agree that a "complete" organ player is the one who can use pedals,
but I'd like to call "organists" many who doesn't.

The thought goes immediately to Brian Auger, who abitually doesn't
(can he? I don't know) but also, here in Italy, to Alberto Marsico,
who never gigs with any kind of pedalboard.
On a personal note, my own "self-inflicted musical inspiration",
Matthew Fisher, rarely used pedals. Last I've heard of him he was
actually trying to improve his pedals/classical organ skills, actually.

Pedals are a beautiful thing, a skilled player who can use them has a
whole new world of options, but they're a complementary art for our
instrument, a complementary art that's not for everyone.
And just as I call "musician" a classically-trained solo piano player
as well as the trumpet player in a bebop quartet or the lead guitar of
a rock band or the ensemble string player I call "organist" any person
whose main instrument is some kind of organ.

Just my 2 cents: different ways for different people.
