Seriously, I'll bet if all of the members were polled on their primary/first keyboard experience, most would respond with "piano." Most, but not all of us; a few would pick "accordian" and even fewer would choose "organ."

Organ, not a clonewheel or a "combo organ", in the classic, (not classical,) sense encourages me to recognize a musical instrument equipped with, but not limited to, multiple manuals and a pedal board. Consequently, I identify an organist as one who, in addition to many other playing related skills, is sufficiently co-ordinated to utilize all limbs, in performance.

My intent is not to kindle a flame war, but to express my personal exasperation at the nature of the original, disparaging comment about bass pedals and, by his inference, those interested in the topic. Out of consideration for others' interests, some folks should ask themselves, "Is it really all just about me?," before making denegrating and disparaging comments.

.....and that's my rant for 2012.
