I retired 4 years ago, and am now approaching 60. At this point I play in 5 or 6 different bands (Jazz, Blues, Southern Rock, Classic Rock, old R&B etc.) as well as an occasional solo gig with or without vocals. I'm also making an attempt to write some tunes and get them down for posterity. I now have a dozen or so with another dozen in the works. I plan to keep "at it" til I die or become too physically infirm or mentally addled to make it happen. At this point the money is not very relevant even though I do appreciate getting paid and havingg some spending money.

BTW I saw Reese Winans last night with the Bart Walker Band at the Capitol Oyster Bar in Montgomery. It is a far cry playing for tens of thousands to playing a little $800 or so gig for a hundred or so. He played some killer piano solos, the band was good, and he looked like he enjoyed every minute of it. Maybe smaller and more intimate is just as fulfilling (I certainly would not know about the 10,000 fan gigs!!)

I often get the feeling that a number of this group's members are "older"... that is, guys (and girls) who played out mostly during the 70's and 80's. People sort of caught "in between" appreciation for the old-school equipment and the advantages of software recording and instruments. Seems like only yesterday that a sweet sounding synth pad really did it doesn't it? Not to mention all those years that no one even wanted to hear a Hammond sound.

Anyway, I guess my point in all this is... what are people's plans? More recoring for posterity? Publishing on the internet market? Playing out? Writing? Just curious about how the rockers of the 70's and 80's plan to spend the time they have now... myself included.
