My back also has "aesthetics" at my age. If I am hauling my own gear (99% of the time) I am more than willing to accept a little compromise in sound and a huge conpromise in stage appeal so that I can actually walk the next day after the gig. I have a really nice A100 in a B2 case, but can't imagine ever using it out unless I am in a band with several roadies. Let the bands that can afford such luxuries (in a rider or in cartage) for stage appeal haul around the furniture!!
