To add to this, there are times when the artist needs a clone in cases
of multi-keyboard layers and a B3 is not essential to the look or sound
of the act, the sideman-keyboard player opts for ease of movement over
aesthetics.

They will ask specifically for a clone in the riders. or an act tours
the planet, brings their own clone, it being cheaper to transport or
it may be his/her required setup, and asks for a Leslie supplied by the
production company at the venue.

Many tours are all about logistics, where they will be coming from and
going to, whats available at the next stop and the costs. So the artist
decides, if they are not sure what to expect when they get to the
concert venue, if they bring a clone just in case they don't find what
they need.

However, tours are lined up, riders are discussed well in advance
before travelling to make things idiot proof. If concert # 1 has a B3
or clone but # 2 does not, then the artist brings their own. Its
situations like these that force an act to request gear, but because
there's a hole in the succeeding gigs as far as keyboard avaialbility,
they may cancel the rider request altogether for the keyboard be it B3
or not, and just bring their own clone throughout the entire tour to
gain consistancy and be 100% sure. The show must go on.

Nothing sad about it, if that is what he chooses to play, and that
where he finds what he needs.
