Subject:Re: 11 pin ventilator cable
Right, pin 11 is the "sense" signal, if you will, which tells the organ that it is connected to a Leslie. I ran into this on my Roland VK-7 when hooking it up to a Leslie some time ago. I'm not sure about your KX3 but since pin 11 is only a sense input, it's voltage has some latitude and the current draw is minimal. For the VK-7, I believe someone suggested a 9V battery was sufficient.
FWIW, in my case with the VK-7, I actually decided to disable the "signal" on pin 11 (at the Leslie since it was easier to access there and therefore easier to reverse if need be in the future.)
In the VK-7, when it "sees" a Leslie is connected, it automatically internally disconnects the leslie sim from the 1/4" and instead feeds a straight 100% reverb to it, presumably to allow you to use it as a remote "echo" cabinet.
Since I was experimenting to see how if I could get a dual Leslie going; one real and one sim, I of course wanted the 1/4" to output the sim as usual into a KB amp. It actually worked as I hoped but I really don't use it like that but it's nice to know it works. BTW, the Leslie in question was a lowly 130 which I retired to the parlor hooked to my M3. In the end, the 130 is waaaay better than the internal speakers so if someone want's to give one to you, take it.
Cheers,
Rock
