Subject:Re: Expression pedal?
Hey Bruce,
Thanks for the explanation. Good info for those who may not have stumbled upon it over the years. I remember the old receivers and hi-fi/stereo amps that used to have selectable "Loudness Contour" on the volume to approximate the F&M curve. I have looked and can't find that feature lately. Do suppose it's just built-in without mention or just an abandoned feature?
On the other hand, I'd think the shutter simulation is probably the more the impetus for the design rather than F&M curves but they do seem to have a similar auditory result.
The personal complaint I have to exp pedals is the inability to go to zero. There are times I'd like to fade to zero but the design does not allow it. I guess I'll accept that's the way it is but it doesn't mean I have to like it:(
The same thing happens on my CV but with that one, it uses a discrete resistor ladder instead of a pot or a variable cap. One of these days I might just modify the last couple of resistors to change the "curve" right at the bottom of the throw. We'll see.
Cheers,
Rock
