Funny you should mention this but I did the same thing on my Quiklok
Z-series stands. I removed the middle and now the 2nd only sits flat and
won't tilt but that's the way I like it. I've had a number of stands and
none them were anywhere near as sturdy as the Z-series. It also has plenty
of room for my pedals and guitar processor. The downside is putting it
together everytime which isn't that hard just takes a few minutes-I got to
the point where I just left it assembled and layed it flat in my van and
piled the rest of my rig around it. The only thing I wish it did was raise
up a little more I'm 6'4" and the height kind of sucks but I deal with
it.Maybe I'll add some 4 X 4 blocks.
