The stack-ability of yesteryears' keyboards was great. Most modern stands, even at their tightest settings, don't situate the boards close enough for my liking. Recently I was looking at my QuikLok X stand in frustration (I think it's this model: http://tinyurl.com/ch7ddzu ) when I suddenly realized that I could just disassemble the second-tier arms, eliminate the adjustable plate section, screw it back together, and lose a good three inches of separation. Sure enough - now it's great. I can barely slip my bottom board in the space below the second tier.
