A Google search turned this up. Some great info that clears up some confusion and missing info (at least for me) in the owners manual.

Yeah, I finally found the part in the user manual that says "Preset Memory contains 64 organ Presets and 16 User Presets. The settings in these preset memories will be overwritten when settings are modified and then saved."

not sure yet what the difference is between the "organ" and "user" presets. Yes the modified ones can be returned to factory settings but only all of them at the same time I'm pretty sure through re-initializing.

I'm just going from memory but about the VK-7 presets, I do believe you do and can overwrite any factory presets with your own. As you can see it's bank type organization scheme (which I personally find easiest to use) and as far as I can tell or remember, there are no "reserved" factory preset locations per se as they all can be over written.

I also seem to remember reading about a "return to factory defaults" procedure but I can't be sure about that. But who cares, your presets are what you want and IMHO, there's there's nothing special about the factory presets anyway.

I only ever use the 1st bank of 8 and adjust DBs etc from there to fine tune and sound I want.

I actually rarely if ever use anything but the organ and get other sounds from a second KB. For 1 set gigs I have however used the VK7 alone and have needed to use the EP etc. I find it does work in a bind or when you're to lazy to drag along more gear: )

Cheers,
Rock

I like the keyboard action too.  Compared to the Drawbar organ on the Casio WK-7500 the upper octaves are less shrill on the VK-7. For a band situation I don't even think I will need to EQ it. Otherwise the Casio actually sounds pretty close (except for the harmonic beating on the Casio mentioned earlier). Everything is working fine on the VK-7 but it has the 2 2/3' drawbar with the knob snapped off about at the 1 mark (but still adjustable) and the 2' almost completely snapped off below the 8 mark-it's actually stuck now below the metal casing and I can't pull it out. It looks like I'll need to take the casing off to get at it. Electronically it is still working as it shows/sounds in the presets. I also saved my first organ user preset tonight. Not sure, but when
