Subject: Re: [CWSG] Something new
Actually, I was too busy gigging the last three weeks, but last weekend plus was especially weird! Thursday I had a houseband gig where I used the CX3 through the vent, which went well, then I had a benefit on saturday where I used the CX3 through the leslie 50C, miked which was like heaven, playing old hippie rock, then sunday morning I had to fill in at a church thing. I did something almost sacreligious there. There was a 59 B3 there with a 122, slightly modified so the thing is extra loud (and clean!).I needed dirt but would never have gotten away with the volume it would have taken to get it, so I actually unplugged the leslie and ran the B into the vent! I felt real guilty for doing that, but the soundman loved me, and a few people from the church remarked on how well balanced the band was. I'm just filling in for june, but I have a feeling the regular guy is gonna hate me when he gets back! Then sunday night I had another house band job and I took
the same setup I used thursday night which was the CX-vent combo through a little personal monitor, then a behringer self powered cabinet. I couldn't figure out why I was getting so much bass out of the setup (the self powered cabinet is kind of pointed away from me, and I hear the little personal monitor mostly). It also seemed harsher than normal. I got home to find I blew the tweeter in the 215. So 4 different setups in 4 days, if I'm including a tweeterless cab as one.
