I've been using a VK-8 for 5 or 6 years and I'm pleased with everything about it.
My other gigging keyboard is a Korg Triton Le.
If I only have room or need for one board I will take the VK-8.

I may have found a good deal on a Roland VK-8. 2 questions: I have read reviews that the other instruments besides organ are not that great but I would just need most for at home practice anyway. I have a Yamaha digital piano I use for gigs and leave at our practice space. I'm in a Tom Petty cover band now and just need barely audible background strings for songs like I won't Back Down and Free Fallin. Are the VK8's strings good enough for that? Also how much of a detriment for live performance is not having an LCD screen? Every keyboard I have used has had one, except of course, my real Hammonds. I don't want to be fumbling around between or during songs on stage having accidentally selected the wrong patches. It looks like custom patches can be saved to preset buttons though.
