Subject:Re: A module that delivers a hammond sound as good as the one in the Nord Stage?
Mike, if you like the Nord Hammond sound you might want to look for a used Nord Electro 2. It's essentially the EM "guts" without the keyboard. The Hammond will be several generations away from what the current Nords sound like, however.
Otherwise, there are a few dedicated module solutions out there, including the Voce V5+ and the Hammond XM1 or XM2 modules (you need to add the XMC-2 drawbar controller if you want that capability on the module, although if your PC88 has 9 sliders you it might be able to control the XM1 as drawbars. Krumar offers the Hamichord EXP which is essentially the guts of a PC designed to host VB3.
The other option you might want to consider is selling the PC88 and getting a Kurzweil PC3. Its dedicated B3 emulation is the best I've heard in a non-dedicated clonewheel (better than my old EM2, which I sold after I got my PC3), it's got the Kurzweil piano sounds you love, plus many other highly usable EP sounds. And right now they're selling at a great price.
