Ron,

I suspect the issue may be the midi mapping. I use Cantabile Performer as a host for VB3.  Cantabile includes a midi mapping and resassignment functionality.  I am not familiar with Ableton, does it have a midi mapping and assign functionality? If it does then you should be able to assign channel 3 to VB3 and/or have VB3 learn where the midi channel and CC's.  If not then your VST host is the issue. Cantabile Performer at $139 is an excellent VST host for Live use, if you are studio orientated then there is a wide range DAW's available, all at a higher price.

Subject: [CWSG] VB3 and Midi

I've just completed a project to "midify" some bass pedals that I extracted from an old spinet organ. I'd like to add these to my VB3 rig, but am having trouble getting midi channels to play nice. Theoretially, it looks like this should be simple in VB3 - just set one midi controller to send channel 1 for upper drawbars, another to send channel 2 for lower drawbars, and channel 3 for pedals. With controllers sending on these channels, and VB3 looking for these, everything "should" work. Except it doesn't. Seems that I can't get my DAW to recognize and process the three channels separately. I'm using Ableton Live Lite 8, and maybe that's the problem, but I can't find any indication in the documentation that that's the case. Hope I don't have to get a $400. software upgrade to make this work. Would appreciate input from anyone who is using all the drawbars in VB3 - how did you make this work? Right now my boards are all going to the computer via
USB to the DAW. Am I missing something here? I love the sound of VB3, but it's frustrating being limited to one keyboard when it seems capable of so much more.
Thanks, Ron
