Subject:Blunstone/Argent ''Hold Your Head Up" version on Youtube (OT)
Is it just me, or is there something oddly disconcerting about watching older musicians perform rock tunes? (And I say this having spent most of my 20's and 30's playing in rock bands in the 70's and 80's). Maybe it has something to do with the image of rock being so youth-oriented that the appearance of 60 year old guys rocking and strutting with their guitars in front of Marshall stacks just somehow seems out of place, despite the fact that they sound good and appear to be having fun. At the same time, older guys playing jazz, classical, or that "upstate New York out in the woods Neil Young James Taylor" kind of thing seems somehow OK and not strange in the least. As an example, not long before he died I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Smith in concert and the fact that he was an "old guy" detracted not the least from his show. But when I see guys from the 70's and 80's still hammering away at those old tunes decades later it somehow
seems... well... oddly disconcerting. Just my way OT thoughts.
