Subject: [CWSG] Craig/Norm collaboration - Hold Your Head Up
Norm Peterson asked me if I would help him out by assisting his "Music
Through The Wire" group of internet musical collaborators by laying down a
solo on their version of "Hold Your Head Up" by Argent. Norm didn't have
time to learn and record the solo over the Christmas holidays, and he knew
that I used to play this tune with my 11STEPS band, so he graciously asked
if I would lay down the solo.
I thought you guys would be interested in hearing the finished product,
because it features both Norm and I, AND because I used VB3 for the solo.
Norm did a great job of all the fills and pads, and he really captured the
essence of the sound (something that these music through the wire guys are
great at doing!) I believe Norm used his NORD for all those parts, and the
solo and outro solo are me on VB3. I didn't comp the solo exactly, I just
borrowed some of the signature passages and did my own thing.
There's been a lot of talk about the MOJO and VB3 lately so I thought this
would be something good to post for those of you who wanted to hear VB3 used
in a more prog rock recording.
Thanks to Norm for inviting me to participate in this.. if you haven't heard
any of the stuff these guys do you should check it out! Norm... here's your
opportunity to plug this project for those who aren't familiar with what
you've been doing.
Here's the link to the version I just posted on soundcloud.
