Well, here in Italy (and in the music stores I've been in the UK) is more or less the same: all the music stores have a lot of guitars and few keyboards, often quite old (although the better ones often have C2s).
However, taking something software based is not a bad idea if you know that software will be updated when new versions of the sound generator are ready. People who bought an Hamichord years ago still have one of the best clones in the marked, sounding exactly like the ones you can buy today.
