I would mention also that guitar amp is an important part of
instrument chain, which contributes a lot to resulting guitar sound,
and can be also used for creating acoustic feedback. Behavior of
guitar tube amplifier is different in the comparison with keyboard
combo or neutral PA system - it's much more sensitive to the input
level. There's also a certain compression added by tube amp, and
degree of this compression and distortion is always changing according
to the input level. Which all is of course good for guitar, but not so
good for keyboard or clonewheel organ. Essential part of organ is an
expression pedal, and levels are also changed directly on drawbars. If
we have controller expression pedal connected directly to organ, or we
have audio volume pedal between organ and guitar amp, all changes in
level, compression and distortion are not so good sounding. Nothing to
say about limited frequency range and EQ curve.
