Bobby,
There are a lot of legacy ProTools in studios out there. I am talking about systems I get requested for new studios or upgrades.
ProTools HD was the standard in larger studios for a long time. With the announcement that they are abandoning their "legacy" hardware after a lot of studios are jumping ship. They have done this before. There is nothing wrong with ProTools, it's all about how Avid treats it's long time customers. It's a shame that they don't get it. It's the same with their NLE products. They treat their customers like crap. In the Studio I am a partner in we have the old ProTools 888 system and it still works like a champ. We also have 2" 24 track tape machines but with the cost of the tape these days most are renting the tape and dumping to ProTools when done tracking. Please don't get me wrong, I have no problem with those who choose Macs (or ProTools) but really don't like to see the Windows myths that get spread by under informed Apple users. I don't mean that as sarcastically as it sounds! :)
Gary
