Subject:Re: Kurzweil PC3
Since I used to own a Nord Electro 2 and sold it once I got my PC3, I'll add my two cents. Frankly, I think the PC3 Hammond emulations are far superior to the NE2s, which is one reason why I sold the latter. I agree that even with the latest upgrade the Leslie effects still aren't fantastic, and now I have "proved" this by getting a Ventilator, which really makes the PC3's B3s come alive. I would not say that the PC3 organs are better than those in VB3 (at least the demo version I'm trying), which are truly amazing. Then again, I still can't figure out how to set up Sonar to 'record' VB3s sounds on a track, and the delay between striking the key and hearing the sound is still too long, even with my tweaked latency settings.
As for other sounds, I think the PC3's pianos are good, but no match for the stock pianos on my Roland Sonic cell or those on its SRX "Complete Piano" card. But its electric pianos are outstanding, its orchestral strings and excellent, and its Mellotron samples are the best I've ever heard on a ROMPLER.
