Subject:Re: CX-3 as midi controller
Hi Ron,
The CX-3 makes a fantastic MIDI controller, because each knob, drawbar,
and button can be changed to whatever CC# is necessary to get things to
work. It also has separate controls for upper and lower manual drawbars
and vibrato, and can send both velocity and fixed-velocity note data --
on two different channels, if you'd like. The two foot pedal inputs can
send changeable CC#s, too. In fact, the CX-3 is a better MIDI master
keyboard than some keyboards claiming to be the same as their primary
purpose!
One trick I learned was to be able to change the note MIDI channel on
the fly, set the split point to the highest C. Then, when you press
Split, the keyboard will transmit on the lower manual channels -- both
velocity and fixed -- rather than the normal channel.
The only 'gotcha' I'm aware of is that the Expression/Overdrive knob is
run in conjunction with the foot pedal; just be aware of that.
Regards,
