I have heard raves from a frustrated Mainstage user about Max for Live, http://cycling74.com/whatismax/ . Apparently he had been having stability issues and claims this is rock solid. I think it's good to have options. This apparently works in conjunction with Ableton Live, Mac (AU) or Windows (VST) versions.
