That might be due to Vox UK had a hard time keeping up with demand at
that time (mid '60's) and joined with Thomas Organ USA. I'm just
guessing, perhaps there were import duty issues, Vox gear going to
other countries that made things complicated, while things made in
Italy and Japan were easier to import.

Vox etc were not around (making it hard to do a reasonable sounding
cover of House of the Rising sun or Doors stuff)
