Subject:Re: organ playing posture
If its a real cardboard shoebox, then since it flexes, it offers no
steady support and you will raise your foot to keep from crushing it
which adds stress to your body. You need to be properly supported
sitting or propping up a foot. When playing an actual gig your stance
needs to be solid. Also your keyboard stand needs to be stiff and secure
as well, no bouncing, flexing, creeping. I think the last thing
designers consider if at all is the ergonomics of the stability of what
holds their boards at playing height where as a real piano, organ was
inherently massive and heavy offering a positive counter-force to the
player. This is where the portability factor loses its helpfulness.
Without a proper stand holding the keyboard still, your body does extra
work trying to play and not knock the board on the floor.
