My guess would be a ribbon cable problem; likely just a re-seating of the connector.  Fairly common in the CX-3 and BX-3.  I had a similar problem in my CX-3 with the C/V buttons.  You will need to get Bruce's blessing on that opinion since he is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable on this forum for anything BX-3 related.  If I saw one for a good price, I might jump on it!
