Maybe different wiring of cable? Check and compare documentation, or
experiment with the help of some external reduction.

Yamaha FC7 was mentioned here more times - it will not work with
Roland gear. It's necessary to reconnect the cable - by external
reduction between connector and the instrument or by resoldering
internally on the pot. I did this with two FC7 and they work now
perfectly with my Roland V-piano.
