I tried tweaking the C/V on the VB3 and couldn't get the V to be less dominant.
I've pointed out in earlier posts that the C3 setting of a B3 is actually a combination of C and V.
An A-100 I had sounded just like the VB3 effect. For the longest time I thought it was motorboating and took the entire thing apart, cleaned it, shocked it and messed with it and it never changed.
End result was that it was working fine and that's how it was made to work based on the A's electronics etc. I sold it to a fellow who wanted to use it in his church in La. He loved it.
Oh well.......
I have checked out the Mojo adjustments and that issue can be adjusted but it can't be adjusted to my tastes in the VB3.
I eventually got the controller, VB3 and Mainstage all on the same page. Mainstage works one way with a controller of it's internal/Logic/B4 sounds and a different way if you add a plug-in. I do like the raw sound of the VB3 over the B4 and I loved the B4 when it came out. I used it for a long time.
I've had guys tell me that Logic is a bear to get through. I now believe them. I'm getting off point.
I'm not sure what tweaks are available in the C2/NE3. I use them as they came out of the box through a Vent.
I did upgrade my C2 to the C2D version. I'm not sure I really like the C2D version though.
I haven't used it enough to figure that one out.

>> The VB3 I have is simply not usable. The C/V is nothing like any Hammond I've ever heard. If you use the chorus on the VB3 and the Leslie sim there is a faint hint of harmonic phasing which kills the whole thing for me. I used the VB3 one time and then never used it again.

Some folks really like it. If you really like it then you are certainly entitled to like it.
If you've ever played a B3/C3 or A100 for any time you're going to have a hard time adjusting to clones.
I prefer my C2/NE3

Interesting comment which makes me wonder if most of us fall into different groups in terms of our acoustic perception, I guess every clone manufacturer has someone who decides when the software developers have got to the point where their code makes a sound that represents a realistic clone. I guess that the person who does this at Korg has a different perception of what a Hammond sounds like to say Guido at VB3. Or they have the same idea but the bean counters at Korg decide that the development budget has been spent so what they have at that point is what goes live. Maybe this is where smaller developers like GSI keep investing time until it as good as they can get it. (but still unusable to some ears)

Even if the the larger companies involved allowed unlimited development time I suspect their clones and sims would all sound different as the people who make the final call will all have a different idea of what sounds "right".

Chuck, are your comments based on the difficulty you experienced getting VB3 to work in Mainstage or it all installed fine and after tweaking all the variables VB3 1.4 offers you came to the conclusion it is unusable?

Also are you using the C2/NE3 as it came out of the box or have you tweaked the settings?

Cheers

Mark
