Subject:Re: OT 12-12-12- concert
I watched it for the pure curiosity of seeing who and how were going to address this concert, who would perform and why, what songs they chose to do and the looks on their faces as they sang their songs. That Chase sponsored the event, the most poignant performance was Billy's Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway where he changed the lines in the song to reflect the hurricane. Although written in the 70's about the economic fiasco New York was going through, the lyrics are even more real today, if not prophetic. Tongue in cheek, the thinking man's New Yorker from my birthplace, the Bronx, drove home the wit and sarcasm needed for this catastrophe as he always did throughout his career, pulling no punches. Ironically, Mr. We Didn't Start The Fire, JFK blown away, the children of thalidomide, was able to say what's on his mind for those that know, to those that "know."
The reason the concert happened dwarfed the supersized superstars as we/them are caught in a marionette show. If Jagger was bothered to lend his Johnny Fontane to this "staged event" with his comment only goes to show the yoke of fame doesnt always feel too comfortable and the "gods" we worship don't always have the answers.
