Leo, if it's any help, I have a presonis bluetube and an art "tube preamp system" (older one). Being my normal OCD self I ABed these two extensively wit the Korg new version and found no difference. I think the key is just getting some tube warmth in there, and I don't think it's super picky what you use. I also think that harshness is always going to be a problem and never totally go away. Every link in the system needs to be tweaked from the speakers right back to the korg, but it can be made livable. But honestly, other than with the real leslie that korg harshness has been a time consuming curse for me.
