At the weekend I took my elder son Thomas, who's 13, down to our local music shop, Twang Guitars, to let him try out the Rhodes Mk! they've got (they actually have two, but only one is set up). He's been playing guitar and bass for nearly a year, and has just started teaching himself piano.

We both know that we can never afford to buy a real Rhodes, but he plays my Casio WK-3000 and my Nord Electro 3 73, and I thought it would inspire him if he knew what an electric piano was really like to play. I think he was very impressed.

Yes they did have a nice action... and were very inspirational to play. Sometimes you could sit down at one and the tunes would just flow...

Agreed. As someone who also had both versions, there's also that distinctly unusual feel to the keyboard and action that no other instrument had.
