A good analogy here since some are essentially saying your playing is
lacking because you transpose down a half step instead of learning it a half
step down, what about the guitar player? He's not tuned standard and playing
it half a step down? Does that mean the guitar player is lacking? Or the
singer that has been singing Steve Perry for the last 25 years and can only
hit the high notes if you tune down or use a "C" clamp? I played in a
classic rock band for 13 years and we down tuned a half step from the
start...Played Journey, Kansas, Foreigner etc., etc. our male and female
singer wouldn't sing without doing it...I have yet to meet a guitar player
that will play in standard tuning with one song after another in any sharp
or flat keys...They say they can't play a lot of open strings or
chords...??? Maybe all the musicians I know (myself included) suck because
we don't transpose on the spot? I guess technology has made me lazy...
