Subject:Re: OT Mars landing: congrats

Thanks for this, Rafael. Truly a great moment in the fledgling history of space exploration.

For anyone who may not be fully aware of what it took to put Curiosity on the surface of Mars, NASA put together a 5-minute video entitled "7 Minutes of Terror" that explains it better than anything else I've seen. You'll find it here: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/videogallery/index.html?media_id=146903741

I believe that I heard a clonewheel part in a couple of places in the clip's soundtrack! I think it was a Hammond XK3c, but couldn't tell for certain because it was evidently processed through a Vent which, as we all know, makes anything processed through it sound EXACTLY like a 1959 B-3.

Meanwhile, getting back to the off-topic discussion at hand, a "sky hook" has been a tongue-in-cheek solution for otherwise seemingly-unsolvable mechanical engineering and architectural challenges for decades, if not centuries. Dog-gone if NASA didn't come up with one! Truly amazing.

Hope you all enjoy the video. Rube Goldberg would be proud!!!

Peace,
Fox
