Subject:More Mainstage insanity

OK here we go with more MS questions. Bobby, I'm sure you have an answer for this.
I've done this before so I'm now bewildered why it's not working.
Leslie speed control.
I go to Layout-hit the Assign button, punch the speed button on the E3 and the light goes on and off.
OK? NOPE.
Now it completely kills the sound and there is no Leslie whatsoever. If it hit a note again the organ sounds. Hold a chord and hit the speed button-no sound. release and hit a chord the sound comes back. Still no Leslie sim control.
I'm using the EVB3 sound and when I open up the EVB3 to look at the control panel the Leslie it-of course, OFF.
No amount of mapping or Assigning seems to do the trick.
I've assigned all the DBs, C/V controls and percussion but for some unknown reason this thing just won't assign properly.
Anyone got any ideas how to trouble-shoot this?
