Fox, you're right. I used to play B3 and a Yamaha wind controller with a DX 21 at the same time quite often (e.g. Glen Frey "The Heat Is On")... not a big deal at all. And yes, the different "keys" of the two instruments should really have nothing to do with how difficult they are to play, especially in this case where the guy is only playing one or two chords on the B and just popping off a couple of notes on the trumpet.

I used to play alto sax (Eb) or tenor sax (Bb) and B-3 at the same time. I was pretty much limited to 7 notes over 2 octaves without having to take my right hand off the Hammond but, for some reason, the difference in tunings was never an issue. The brain just goes on auto-pilot and plays the correct fingerings, never once considering transposition differentials between the instruments. At least, that's how it worked for me.

I still do this sometimes with a Yamaha WX-5 wind controller, although generally keep its transposition value setting to +/- 0, making it, in essence, the equivalent of playing a C-Melody saxophone.

I suppose though, as low in the trumpet's range as this guy was playing, it is entirely possible that he simply had his tuning joint pulled way out, or a modified longer loop that turned his trumpet into a concert-pitched c instrument.
