It is interesting how the third can change the whole feeling of a chord.  Add the major third and it makes it sound pretty, nice, and generally happy; flat the major third and it sounds sad.  After listening to the song again it is definitely a non-third chord.  BTW, a 1st - 5th chord almost always the chord I end with on organ if it is present at the end of a song.
