Subject:Re: Guitar amp watts vs PA watts? help me to understand
Craig,
For me, if there's only one extra channel available, it gets the kick
drum. Not loud, just to get it into the mix. Our band often plays with
a small PA, and we put 5 vocals and the kick in and nothing else. It
seems easy to get a good balance because we're all old dogs and we know
how to listen to each other and adjust accordingly. Guitar is about the
last thing I'd put in the PA. BTW, my current PA is a Yorkville wedge
mixer with 600w per channel, which feeds stage monitors, and the FOH is
a pair of K10s and a sweet little dB 600W powered sub. It all fits into
my Volvo wagon along with my stage gear ( Stage 76, pair of K8s, guitar,
keyboard stand, suitcase ) and I can carry it all without hardly
breaking a sweat. Things sure are better than they used to be......
